Your baby is finally here and you feel so good, but what a downer when you look in the mirror; you have all that pregnancy weight to lose. There is a usual amount of weight that is retained by the newly delivered mother and it averages 10-15 pounds; quite often a little more than that. So, now what. Get busy and get moving; nothing will happen if you just mope around and feel sorry for yourself, get busy thinking about how to get weight loss after pregnancy.

One of the hardest things you will have to do in life is lose those unwanted pregnancy pounds; but it can be done by getting your motivation revved up, get with your doctor for a dietary plan that includes exercises and one you can stick with, and you are home free...go for it. The saying goes "the best laid plans of mice and men" and that holds true here; get moving...your wonderful plan will not help at all if you don't put it into action.

Don't think this will be a quick fix, quite the opposite; just don't give in to the claims of those fat flushing or slimming pills ads where they will make you into a beauty queen in a matter of weeks. It can be a dangerous undertaking if you try one of those quickie weight loss after pregnancy plans, because your body is still trying to get on an even keel after delivery and you would be placing undue stress on your system.

You could be breastfeeding now and that would be a factor in a weight loss plan, not to mention that your body is still recovering from all the hormone swings it has just gone through. Your body has to have a breather too after all it's just been through, so steer clear of the rapid weight loss plans, they are lethal. Allowing at least 9 months to drop the weight is smart and do so gradually. Tit for tat; took 9 mos. to get it on, then 9 mos. it is to get it off.

Without the weight gain you experienced during pregnancy, you would have no nutritional reserves with which to nourish the newborn child in the form of breastfeeding; Mother Nature has thought of everything. You must be prepared with a good support system to be the underpinnings of the baby's nutritional needs because as far as Nature is concerned, you are the only support the baby has. Once the baby is weaned from breastfeeding, the pregnancy weight on your body is no longer needed for anything, and it will begin to drop off naturally. Precisely, once the baby is weaned, most new mothers will see a large drop in their postpartum weight.

It doesn't seem possible, but 700 calories a day seems to be the amount that a new mother can burn while breastfeeding. One thing that can be said is this; this can be a very significant factor in considering all the different parts in weight loss, but it needs to carry just a little more influence to be considered a major player in the weight loss after pregnancy world. All the factors that can be involved in weight loss should be added in along with diet plans, how much exercise you are getting and a score of other things in order to get the most out of the plan.

A good weight loss plan is an adjunct to a healthy lifestyle; it helps you lose the unwanted pounds slowly and in a healthful way, it gives you a good base of sound nutrition that help keep you healthy and active, and it allows you to be able to breastfeed the baby and take care of it without getting run down or running out of steam. Being up to par is the most important factor here; your baby depends on you for his very life and well being and you cannot provide that if you are not healthy yourself. Don't scrimp on your daily routine, otherwise you won't follow it; make sure it is healthy and sensible and workable. The purpose of the whole thing is to create a plan that you will follow, and if you don't, then why bother with it. Pick your plan carefully and enjoy the new baby.
